A new building for the legal clinic at Kunduz University’s law faculty was inaugurated on 8th October during a handover ceremony. The head of Kunduz’ Directorate of Justice, representatives of the university and the ambassador of the Netherlands to Afghanistan attended the event. The Afghan-German Cooperation’s project for the promotion of the rule of law (RoL) supported the building’s construction on behalf of the Netherlands.

Yesterday, 170 civil servants completed a two-day workshop in Kunduz province’s Khanabad district on the operation and maintenance of public buildings. Kunduz province’s Department of Education (DoEd) organised the training with support from the Afghan-German Cooperation’s programme to promote local governance structures in Afghanistan (RCD).

Together with the Social Association of Journalists in North Afghanistan (SAJNA). Topic: Generating Rule of Law Awareness – How can media contribute to raising awareness of the rule of law in Afghanistan? The conclusion: Even though the Afghan media has made a significant contribution in raising legal awareness, they can dedicate even more resources to this activity. Three legal experts and more than 70 journalists gathered to discuss media’s role in promoting the rule of law in Afghanistan.

A delegation of the Faculty of Geology and Mines of Kabul Polytechnic University (KPU) took part in the scientific and practical conference “Minerageny of Kazakhstan” in Almaty, Kazakhstan, followed by a three-day visit to the Kazakh National Research Technical University (KazNRTU). The Afghan-German Cooperation’s programme Academic Mining Education in Afghanistan (AMEA) supports the KPU in establishing new ties with foreign universities and with the integration into the academic community.

Together with the Directorate of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock (DAIL) of Takhar province, the Afghan-German Cooperation organised the Poultry Industry Exhibition on 25th September at the vicinity of Directorate of Livestock and Animal Health in Taloqan City.

Nine governmental and non-governmental employers and recruiters from the justice sector, as well as the faculties themselves, provided job-related information to students. The Afghan-German Cooperation’s programme for promoting the rule of law in Afghanistan (RoL) organised the event.

Today, the Afghan-German Cooperation’s Civil Peace Service (ZFD) held the Peace Photography Competition award ceremony in the Queens Palace of Babur Garden in Kabul for young Afghans from different ethnic and religious groups. More than 200 young male and female Afghans, who submitted a photo or excelled in other peace activities, attended the event.

50 people, including representatives of local and provincial authorities, the National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) and civil society organisations (CSOs) attended the event. The centre operates as a bakery as well as a training facility for apprentices. Ten local women found a permanent job in the centre. The Afghan-German Cooperation initiated and financed the project while the Balkh Directorate of Women Affairs (DoWA) provided the land for the centre’s construction.

Yesterday, the District Development Assemblies (DDAs) of three districts in Balkh province, including Dehadi, Balkh and Nahr-e Shahi, received meeting hall equipment. The new equipment included sound systems, power generators, digital cameras, heaters and other necessary articles for holding meetings successfully. The Department of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (DRRD) provided the equipment, supported by the Afghan-German Cooperation. The total costs amount to more than AFN 1 million.

During the closing ceremony, the head of the MoMP’s mining inspection directorate, Eng. Mohammad Ali Behsoodi, commented: “We appreciate that the Afghan-German Cooperation funds these courses. The training will greatly help the mines inspectors when working for our oversight programmes. They will now be able to standardise mining activities in Afghanistan in line with international norms and standards. Their increased capacities will be utilised on national and subnational level.”
